Keep on Truckin'
Mood:  chillin'
Now Playing: it's getting closer!
Topic: Andy's latest posting
Well, another Fest For All performance down and many more gigs to go. We had a great time and hope all who saw us, that dealt with the cruddy weather, enjoyed the show. Churchills is where we're at as of now, but a good funky show, nonetheless, will happen wherever we are playing. The c.d. is back from L.A. and is sounding awesome. August is my target release now with a definate date sometime in the next few weeks to be announced. Come check us out wherever you can and be ready, for the album will be smokin'.

A New Year and more bone!
Mood:  vegas lucky
Now Playing: Just back from NYC and getting ready for new gigs
Topic: Andy's latest posting
+Well, I'm just back in from NYC. I was up there with Patrick Bordelon for the International Association for Jazz Education Conference. It was great. We were up there from Jan. 11 - Jan. 14. There was lots of "the best" to see and hear, trully there was. I was honored and fortunate enough to be invited by Bonerama and Mark Mullins to sit in with them at a rock club called The Coda, in mid town Manhattan. Let me just say that it was "bad to the bone" or whatever you can think of better! Good stuff up there with Bonerama, just the best. Check them out if you haven't yet (www.bonerama.net). Anyway, it was great to hang and jam with them on stage on that Friday and Saturday.
Well, now on to bigger and better things, I hope. The album is being mixed at this time, so we are definately getting closer. We have a few Churchils gigs coming up, so all should come out to see that and catch some newer tunes and some guest vocalists. Drop me a line to let me know what you guys think!

Happy Holidays to all
Mood:  special
Now Playing: Just saying "hey" and "happy holidays" to all
Topic: Holiday Wishes to all
Ladies and Gents,
I just thought I'd say hello to all and wish everyone a happy holiday season as we begin to close out 2005 and enter 2006. On a sad note, I want to extend my prayers and sorrow for a true musician, great trombonist, and member of the New Orleans rock/funk band, Bonerama. Mr. Brian O'Neill passed away late last week and this was just brought to my attention early this week. I can only express the loss and sorrow that everyone else has and know that this man is in a much better place now. As a fellow trombonist and having played with him several times in New Orleans, my condolences to him and his family. He will truly be missed.
On a happier note, I've been working hard with Rick Naqvi in the studio as of late. We've moved over to Chris LeBlanc's studio since Plus Good Studios closed about mid way through 2005. The album is finished recording and we just have a few items left to choose before we go to mixing and then mastering. After looking at the situation, The Project is looking for a release in April of 2006. The c.d. is turning out to sound great and has shaped up very nicely over the past few months. Please look for it in the near future as we'll be looking to turn some heads and make plenty of noise once it is out on the market.
Again, happy holidays to all. Look for "The Andy Pizzo Project" in 2006. We do all occasions from club gigs to private parties, no matter how big or small. God Bless and have a safe and happy holiday season.

Andy Pizzo
Leader/Trombonist

The AP Project @ The Manship Theatre
Mood:  happy
Now Playing: final reaction to the gig
Topic: Andy's latest posting
Well, we did it! It was a ton of fun for the guys and I to have FINALLY seen each other and performed in over 4 months. The Manship Theatre in The Shaw Center was beautiful and the audience was very appreciative. It was sooooo good to perform for an audience that new good music and new the rules of etiquette in regards to simple things: no talking during the performance, clapping for soloists, etc. It may seem small, but that stuck out in my mind, so maybe simple things, but I was impressed by the audience. We do sooooo many club gigs that those things go undone many of the times, but that's the club scene for ya. Anyway, thanks to Brian McWhorter and Rich Jorn for getting us the gig and we hope to see people in the future as we continue our latin jazz and salsa vibes!

Hurricane Katrina Benefit
The Manship Theatre in The Shaw Center
Wednesday, Oct. 26
7p.m. - 9:30p.m.

Ladies and Gents,
Man, do we have a heck of a show coming for you. I've been working with Brian McWhorter, jazz professor and trumpet teacher at L.S.U., for the past few weeks. He called to get us involved in this series of benefit concerts over at The Manship Theatre at The Shaw Center in downtown Baton Rouge. I've hired an all-star line up for this. Besides myself on trombone and Patrick Borderlon on guitar, the rest of the ensemble will be from New Orleans. The fellas have been displaced, personally ravaged by this storm, and have lost a lot more than myself and everyone here in B.R. The positive pitch on this is that WE WILL JAM AND KICK IT! The following musicians from The Vivaz Latin Band will be joining me onstage: Rik Fletcher - Keyboards; Dave Brouillette - Bass; Donald Jarquin - Congas; and Abdel Jarquin - Timbales/Percussion. This will be a free show and more of a concert setting, so PLEASE spread the word and come on out to support not just the band, but these awesome people joining me on stage so we can show you what hope and power is all about!

The Andy Pizzo Project @ SOGO; opening act for Phat Hat On Aug. 19
Mood:  celebratory
Now Playing: live recording for upcoming c.d.
Topic: Andy's latest posting
Whew!!!!!!! I just got off of the gig and man, am I tired. I'll tell you this though, this was an awesome night at SOGO. Friday, Aug. 19 had two great bands and a heck of a crowd. When the opportunity came to jump on this opening gig, I knew it would be a great gig. Patrick, Doug, Matt, and Josh Nee smoked it behind me tonight. With players like that, it makes it really fun and funky to be a trombonist leading the group. We did one hour of non-stop funky jazz/jazzy funk, whatever you want to call it. No matter what the term, it was "bad to the bone". I think the audience was diggin' it pretty good. Phat Hat kicked it after The Andy Pizzo Project started the night with a bang! Hats off to all the musicians, but in regards to The Andy Pizzo Project, I had a great time with those guys that play with me and I can't wait to hear how this sounded. Some of those tracks will turn up on our upcoming c.d., WHICH IS ON THE WAY. Trust me! Let us know your thoughts!

The "LAVA ROOM" gig this past Saturday
Mood:  cool
Now Playing: Andy and the fellas
Topic: Andy's latest posting
Well, we just did an unusual gig at The Lava Room this past Saturday night, Aug. 13. I got the call from the club late, so the line up that I was able to get was different, but seriously unique. We had Jason Marchand back on bass and Duane Huff in on alto sax. It was only a trio gig, but one that we'll all remember! Besides LAVA being really neat and "red", the music was "avant garde", meaning that it was off the hook and "out there" for many different reasons, but very good at the same time. Lots of fun for the three of us, creatively speaking, and I think the audience was "diggin'" what they saw and heard. Thanks to Joe from Phil Brady's who was out in support. He says he's aiming to get us over at Phil Brady's sometime after football season, which I think will be just fine. Other than that, we met a few really hip people at LAVA and hope to see everyone else out at SOGO for this FRIDAY, AUG. 19 for the big AP PROJECT/PHAT HAT party! THE AP PROJECT starts at 9p.m., so come get your seats early. See you then.

The latest gig we did and the big one coming up on Aug. 19
Mood:  suave
Topic: Andy's latest posting
Man, let me tell ya, we had a really fun and creative gig this past weekend. On Aug. 6, The Andy Pizzo Project, along with the phenominal voice of Mr. Wendell Woods, vocalist for Phat Hat, teamed up for a wedding reception. The crowd was cool, but the music was hot. It was trully great because we had the entire "project" there: Andy, Patrick, Matt, Doug, and Jason. Wendell lit it up with the funk tunes and the fellas did what they always do: smoke the audience. Much fun had on this one.

We are just building it up for the big opening act gig coming up at SOGO LIVE on Fri. Aug. 19. This will be recorded with one or two of the tunes going on the c.d., I hope! Come on out to party with us. We'll have PHAT HAT in the house that night and it is sure to be a PHAT party.
